Buy Flint River Ranch Dog
Food
This is what we use because it is all natural and it is great for
dogs with allergies and skin problems. We use the Fish and Potato.
Purchasing your dog food through Westie Rescue Houston at this link will help pay for dog
food for our rescues.

Westies are often owner
released or turned into the animal shelters because of aggression or biting
young children, neglect, improper or lack of training, accidental run-away with
no collar or ID, or illness. Please realize that when you are adopting a rescued
dog you may also be inheriting their previous problems. Rescued dogs
usually are very grateful to their new owners and become fiercely loyal and very
loving dogs but do not expect to bring in a pre-trained perfectly mannered dog
into your home when you adopt a rescued dog. Ability and desire to treat
your adopted dog like a family member, to offer additional training and special
care, love and attention are a requirement, not an expectation if you adopt a
rescue from us.
We do not volunteer for this job to help you find the perfect dog....
We volunteer our time and our money to help the rescued dogs find the perfect home.
You can apply to adopt by filling out the application.
If you
already have an application on file with us and you are interested in adopting
one of our rescues, please email me at kdmtx@aol.com
Our adoption fees vary
depending on the specific dog
The normal adoption fees range from $200 to $300. Younger healthy dogs
help pay for older and sick dogs.
Adoption fees include spay or neuter, health check, all shots, rabies
certificate, 6 months of heartworm preventative,
10 pounds of premium quality
Flint River Ranch Fish and Potato Dog Food, a safety harness and of course, your
new family member.
Adoption fees are used primarily for vet care but also helps pay for dog food,
collars and harnesses, heartworm and flea preventative, shampoo, grooming
supplies and cleaning supplies.
We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization and we are incorporated in the state of Texas.
Some dogs in our care do not cost us as much as the adoption fee but we have a
lot of expenses on other dogs that have to be covered so we get what we can on
the more desirable dogs to help the dogs who need more care and have more
expenses. Adoption fees and donations are the only source of income we
have to feed and vet these dogs. We have no paid employees. We are
all volunteers that have to pay for our own gas, etc. for our own rescue work
and we often pay for food, treats, bedding, toys and incidentals out of our own
pockets.
We get many, many more applications
than we get dogs. We only call applicants when we
have a dog available for adoption and we only call those applicants who
may fit the profile match of the dog we are trying to adopt out.
If you may be interested in other breeds with similar characteristics
to that of a Westie, you may increase your odds of adopting a dog.
